Certified Patient Care Assistant

The Certified Patient Care Assistant plays a vital role in the healthcare team at PAVILLON LAURIER. This permanent position offers an estimated salary of $45,000 to $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
About the JobThis is a physically demanding job that requires the ability to lift, turn, and position patients with care. The successful candidate will be responsible for supplying and emptying bed pans, weighing patients, and delivering messages between departments. They will also administer suppositories, irrigations, and enemas as required.
Key Responsibilities- Supply and empty bed pans, ensuring patient dignity and hygiene
- Weigh and assist patients with mobility issues, providing support and comfort
- Deliver messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments, maintaining confidentiality when necessary
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as directed by licensed professionals
- Maintain inventory of supplies, ordering and restocking as needed
- Bathe, dress, and groom patients, promoting their physical and emotional well-being
- Transport patients between care facilities, using proper lifting techniques and safety protocols
- Answer call signals to determine patients' needs, responding promptly and compassionately
- Collect and prepare specimens for testing, following laboratory protocols and guidelines
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing operative areas, adhering to infection control policies
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks. The successful candidate must be physically fit, able to stand for long periods, and lift patients safely. Regular breaks and stretching exercises are essential to prevent fatigue and injury.
