About the Opportunity
Foremost is seeking highly skilled and experienced Welders (Journeyman & Apprentice) to join our team at our north facility in Alberta. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will work closely with Lead Hands, Charge Hands, and Foremen to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in our welding processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, including SMAW, MCAW, GMAW, FCAW, and semi-automatic welding processes to produce high-quality welds.
- Conduct repairs, modifications, and retrofits to ensure equipment and machinery are in good working condition.
- Operate flame-cutting and plasma arc cutting equipment to precision-cut metal components.
- Align components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead) to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to detect any flaws or defects.
- Operate metal shaping machines, such as brakes, shears, and hydraulic band saws, to precision-cut and shape metal components.
- Monitor parts usage and report any material issues to ensure efficient production and minimize waste.
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in our welding processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry, legislative, and corporate safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in training and directing less-experienced personnel with work methods, work habits, and performance to ensure a high level of quality and efficiency.
- Recommend changes to improve quality and production costs to ensure the highest level of efficiency and productivity.
- Operate overhead cranes to move heavy equipment and materials safely and efficiently.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- AB (or SK) Registered Apprentice or Journeyman trade certificate.
- Previous experience in tank fabrication is an asset.
- CWB tickets are considered an asset.
- Safety training is an asset, but willingness to train as required is essential.
- Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills and able to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
