Job Description:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in cost control and project planning, with a strong background in Primavera P6. They will be responsible for supporting Planning and Scheduling activities, preparing project schedules, and providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Planning and Scheduling activities
  • Prepare project schedule: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Load Resource/Budget Schedule: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Set up Baseline Schedule: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Update Schedule: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Extract Primavera data files and send to the cost controller: Lead and provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Issue schedule for internal use: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Issue schedule for External use: Lead and provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Monitor and control the progress of the work against the Schedule: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Prepare and update Resource requirements reports: Provide guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Report critical schedule issues: Guidance and support to lower-level planners
  • Identification and explanation of variances between current schedule, plan, earned values, and forecasts, and communicate to the Project Controls Manager, Project Manager
  • Ensure proper progress measurement is in place for all projects and portfolios within the P&L through the whole project cycle
  • Present updates to Lead/Manager/Project or P&L lead
  • Advise on the areas of concern that could prevent meeting the P&L objectives
  • Interface with other Project Control Team to maintain an integrated cost-schedule project control system

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • University degree (B. Eng, BCom, etc)
  • 10+ years of relevant cost control experience, experience in engineering and construction projects environment
  • Proficient in MS office suite of software, especially in Microsoft Excel
  • Preferably thorough knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Ability to learn new software as per the company standards
  • Expert Knowledge of project management techniques and a number of years of hands on experience (i.e., critical path method, progress measurement and earned value technique) and experience in Project planning, analyzing and reporting
  • Strong organizational skills are required with attention to details
  • Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of the general project controls policies and procedures
  • Solid report writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work well with Clients and Alliance partners
  • Ability to work with staff, build and maintain good working relationships with Project Controls team
  • Ability to mentor junior and intermediate staff and work with project cost controller
