Job Title: Freight Forwarding Manager

CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled Freight Forwarding Manager to oversee our inbound and outbound freight forwarding operations at gateways, service centers, and regional hub locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the overall freight forwarding operations, ensuring all KPIs are met and monitored daily.
  • Forecast labor needs to meet peak data entry and operational requirements.
  • Forecast tonnage and revenue, analyze costs, conduct strategic planning, and manage regulatory compliance and customer service to ensure profitability.
  • Interact with UPS sales groups and Industrial Engineering to establish business volume growth and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with UPS policies and procedures and governmental regulations, and manage operations profit and loss (P&L) and targets accounts to retain existing accounts and win new business.
  • This position oversees other managers within the department.
  • Interact with UPS sales groups to participate in sales calls for securing new accounts and growing existing accounts.
  • Identify current and long-term business development opportunities in customer organizations to align Freight Forwarding products and services with customer needs.
  • Review service levels and operational productivity to ensure customer requirements are met and to increase customer retention.
  • Interact with customers to show appreciation for the business, identify and resolve performance and service issues, and prevent churn.
  • Review daily service performance metrics to improve pickup and delivery execution and identify and correct root causes of service failures.
  • Conduct customer meetings and facilities tours and participate in quarterly business review meetings to establish and foster customer relationships.

  • Participate in and support comprehensive health and safety program committee meetings to review short and long-term plans and to address and resolve facility safety issues.
  • Review training records and perform safety audits to ensure UPS policies and procedures and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Manage resources and people processes to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures.
  • Hold others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.
  • Resolve individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS's policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.
  • Coach others and provide ongoing feedback and support to improve performance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience in the freight forwarding industry required.
