Job Summary

This role is responsible for supporting the development of children from birth to age six, ensuring their health and safety while attending to their physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in curriculum planning and implementation for children
  • Mentor students during field practice and lab components of relevant Early Childhood Education courses
  • Support and encourage a child's development, including those with special needs, in a fast-paced environment
  • Work independently with limited supervision, requiring a high level of alertness and exceptional visual and auditory skills
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a provincially accredited Early Childhood Education program leading to Level I Certification through the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL)
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and legislation
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to problem solve and facilitate relationships
  • Conflict resolution and ability to work independently
Working Conditions

This position requires a high level of physical activity, including lifting and moving children weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis.

Salary

CG-27 - $45,463.60 to $50,286.60 per annum
