Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the College of the North Atlantic. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of young children and providing a nurturing environment for their growth and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and encourage the development of children from birth to age six, ensuring their health and safety while attending to their physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.
  • Participate in curriculum planning and implementation for children, while also mentoring students during field practice and lab components of relevant Early Childhood Education courses.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a high-quality learning environment that meets the needs of all children, including those with special needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with children, families, and community members to ensure a sense of belonging and connection.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in Early Childhood Education and implement new ideas and strategies to enhance the learning environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a provincially accredited Early Childhood Education program which will eventually lead to Level I Certification through the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL) by December 31, 2024.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and legislation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Working Conditions

This position requires a high level of physical activity, including lifting and moving children weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis. The ability to work in awkward or cramped positions requiring bending and kneeling is also required.

Salary

CG-27- $45,463.60 to $50,286.60 per annum.
