Job SummaryWe're seeking an experienced Senior Transit Operations Executive to oversee all aspects of transit system operations. The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to deliver safe, effective, and efficient transit service. They will lead senior management guidance, including planning and organizing control centre and train driving operations activities.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Supervision: Exercise leadership and supervision over personnel and activities within the Operations organization, providing counsel and guidance to employees, rendering performance appraisal evaluations, and overseeing significant personnel actions such as promotions, demotions, disciplinary actions, and grievance proceedings.
- Operations Management: Ensure that all parts of the control centre and train driving operations carry out their assigned duties efficiently, safely, and economically, meeting company goals and objectives. Develop, review, justify, and monitor Operations staffing requirements.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish performance objectives for Operations personnel, ensure they understand these objectives, monitor and report on performance against these objectives, and develop remedial plans when required to meet performance targets.
- Budget Management: Assist the General Manager in preparing the annual Operations Budget, monitoring expenditures and variances, and developing remedial plans to meet budget targets.
- Employee Development and Training: Ensure the effective use of personnel through proper employee selection and training, regular employee performance evaluation, employee retraining and re-certification, recognition of good employee performance, and disciplinary action when required.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Continuously monitor the area of responsibility to ensure compliance with legislation and TransEd safety procedures, maintain awareness of health, safety, and environmental requirements, and respond to security issues and breaches in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Educational Background: Graduation from an accredited College or University with a bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Experience: Extensive progressively responsible experience in all facets of rapid transit operations, preferably with recent experience as a high-level supervisor/manager of a rapid transit operational function.
- Skills and Qualifications: Knowledge of TransEd LRT operation rules and regulations, operations plans and procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreements. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English, and to deal courteously and effectively with others. Excellent sense of time and priority.
$90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
