Job Title: Transportation Coordinator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Transportation Coordinator to join our team at the Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese. As a Transportation Coordinator, you will be responsible for transporting students safely and efficiently to and from school, as well as performing various custodial and maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of our schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive a bus to transport students to and from school, following established routes and schedules.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
- Explain safety procedures to students, including the use of emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.
- Maintain order and discipline among students during transport and at bus stops.
- Perform custodial tasks, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash, and sweeping and mopping floors.
- Perform maintenance tasks, including checking and replacing light bulbs, and reporting any mechanical issues with the bus.
- Complete records and reports related to vehicle inspections, student behavior, and other relevant tasks.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
Requirements:
- Secondary school graduation.
- Valid B.C. Class 2 driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience driving a bus or other large vehicle.
- Previous experience working with children.
Working Conditions:
The Transportation Coordinator will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, parents, and staff on a daily basis. The position requires a high level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting. The Transportation Coordinator must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
