Job Title: Weight Room Attendant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and professional Weight Room Attendant to join our team at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre and Matsqui Recreation Centre. As a Weight Room Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for participants, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and instruction to patrons in the fitness centers.
  • Orientate new patrons to the weight room, teaching them how to use equipment and review rules.
  • Ensure all patrons are using equipment safely and properly.
  • Enforce general rules of conduct and treat injuries.
  • Open and close the fitness center, ensuring it is safe for operations.
  • Secure the fitness center at the end of the day and perform daily cleaning tasks.
  • Check and report any equipment that needs repairs.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and maintain a clean and welcoming environment.

Requirements:

  • Current BCRPA Fitness Theory Certification and Weight Room Certification or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR 'C', and AED certification.
  • Ability to apply theory-based knowledge in anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of fitness equipment and machines.
  • Ability to maintain kind and professional relationships with patrons and staff.

Working Conditions:

This is a term contract opportunity requiring a satisfactory criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent will be required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position.

Hourly Rate: $20.90 per hour.
