Are you passionate about developing machine learning models that drive business growth? As an Applied Scientist on Amazon's Tax Platform, you will have the opportunity to lead the development of machine learning models that increase the accuracy of tax classification based on product information in Amazon's catalogue.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Applied Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will work with large language models to build various machine learning models that predict the accuracy of human tasks, reason with large volumes of system changes to identify causal determinants, and apply generative AI to model outcomes from sparse data.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the development of machine learning models that improve tax classification accuracy
  • Work with large language models to build predictive models that identify causal determinants
  • Apply generative AI to model outcomes from sparse data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve customer experience
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in building models for business applications
  • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages
  • Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Unix/Linux
  • Experience in professional software development

The base salary for this position ranges from $149,300/year up to $249,300/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
