About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Surgery Associate Physician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. This position is assigned to the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery.

As an Associate Physician, you will provide medical care under the supervision of a fully licensed physician and report directly to the Cardiac Surgery Clinical Assistant Program Director or his or her designate.

  • Under the supervision of an attending member of the Division of Cardiac Surgery:
  • Functions as a member of the team on the Cardiac Surgery Service, making regular rounds with supervising staff and fellow residents on the wards and in the CVICU.
  • Assists at surgical procedures, may perform appropriate portions of the procedure within the scope of his/her demonstrated competence, under direct attending supervision.
  • Works with attending staff, nurses, and Residents, and other members of the health care team in the development of the overall patient care program.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Must meet the requirements to obtain a Clinical Assistant License from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Must have obtained (in writing) Review of Qualifications from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia prior to application deadline
  • CMPA coverage required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Must be able to promote and maintain good interpersonal skills
Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with 96 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $51.67 – 65.80. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
