Heavy Duty Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at The Sutherland Group of Companies. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing quality repairs and preventative maintenance services on heavy trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, and mobile equipment such as forklifts and loaders.
  • Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, and perform mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Diagnose any faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment.
  • Perform incidental welding repairs on equipment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
Requirements:
  • Journeyman Truck and Transport Mechanic or Journeyman Trailer Mechanic ticket.
  • Ability to be a team player who can share knowledge by teaching and coaching junior Mechanics.
  • Experience in commercial truck and trailer repairs, including brake, suspension, electrical, and emission systems.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
