Job Title: Senior Manager, Taxation

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Taxation to join our team at Foresters Financial. As a key member of our tax team, you will be responsible for providing tax expertise and guidance to support the company's tax compliance and planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Returns: Prepare and/or review working papers to support corporate tax and information returns, and complete tax forms and supporting documentation on a timely basis.
  • Tax Compliance and Tax Control Processes: Prepare and/or review quarterly and annual tax provisions, requisition all installments and payments for taxes, and maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
  • Audits: Manage the process for year-end external tax audits and other audits by tax authorities, including the preparation of working papers, analysis, and supporting documentation.
  • Research, Planning, and Analysis: Research, analyze, and provide recommendations on legislative and regulatory Canadian and U.S. federal and provincial/state income tax, policyholder tax, commodity, and retail sales tax issues.
Key Qualifications:
  • Education: University degree in Business
  • CPA: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required; Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of progressive post-graduate tax experience, preferably in the life industry
  • Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
