Role Summary

This role plays a crucial part in supporting the development of children from birth to age six, ensuring their health and safety, as well as addressing their physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.

Duties

  • Support and encourage a child's development, addressing their physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.
  • Participate in curriculum planning and implementation for children, while also mentoring students during field practice and lab components of relevant courses.
  • Be assigned other related duties as it pertains to the Early Childhood Educator's role.

Requirements

  • Must have completed the required coursework to be in possession of, or eligible for, Level I Certification through the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Have extensive knowledge of early childhood education principles and legislation.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, facilitate, and build interpersonal relationships.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Working Conditions

  • This position is very physically demanding and requires the ability to lift and move children weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis, as well as working in awkward positions.
