Job Summary:

The College of the North Atlantic is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of children from birth to age six, ensuring their health and safety while attending to their physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and encourage a child's development from birth to age six
  • Participate in curriculum planning and implementation for children
  • Mentor students during field practice and lab components of relevant ECE courses
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of alertness and exceptional visual and auditory skills

Requirements:

  • Must have completed the required coursework to be in possession of, or eligible for, Level I Certification through the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL)
  • Extensive knowledge of early childhood education principles and legislation
  • Effective communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Facilitation skills
  • Interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Working Conditions:

This position requires a high level of physical activity, including lifting and moving children weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis. The ability to work in awkward or cramped positions requiring bending and kneeling is also required.

Salary: CG-27 - $24.98 to $27.63 per hour

Benefits: The successful candidate will also receive the provincial Early Learning and Child Care Supplement from the Department of Education, based on eligibility requirements.
