Job Title: Assistant Professor/Professor of Planning

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Professor/Professor of Planning at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and research in the field of planning, with a focus on climate change and urban resilience.

About the Role

The Department of Geography and Planning at the University of Toronto is a leading institution in the field of planning, with a strong reputation for research and teaching excellence. We are seeking a candidate who can contribute to our department's mission to foster city-regions that are sustainable, accessible, beautiful, and just.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach core and elective courses in the accredited graduate Planning Program, including joint Geography-Planning courses
  • Supervise graduate students and maintain an active research program that attracts international recognition
  • Provide service within the University and to broader academic and professional communities
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair to work on internal initiatives relevant to the Planning Program
Requirements
  • Ph.D. degree in Planning or a closely related field
  • Established international reputation and a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching
  • Experience in academic leadership and a strong track record of leadership in planning
  • Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) with the requisite Registered Professional Planner designation
