About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for supporting the Controller in the direction, supervision, and development of the Accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a broad spectrum of accounting activities, including the monthly and year-end closing process to support the issuance of timely and complete financial statements.
- Assist with external auditors as needed, and completion of tax filings.
- Assist with period reporting requirements to financial institutions, solicitors, and other 3rd parties.
- Prepare year-end working paper files.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives of the Accounting team, as well as supporting financial analyses and other ad-hoc projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Thorough understanding of financial reporting, and year-end filing.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills considered important.
- Candidate should be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently as required.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel.
- Experience managing a small team.
- Experience with Yardi, or another integrated ERP solution, would be an asset.
- Self-motivated and independent, detailed-oriented, strong work ethic, and high integrity and ethical standards.
- Willingness to work with others, a strong team player, and the ability to grow into a leadership role.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence for Owners and other senior members of the organization.
