Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing individualized employment services to clients recovering from mental illness.
Key Responsibilities- Client Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' vocational needs, develop employment plans, and collaborate with clients to set realistic goals.
- Job Development and Placement: Engage with community employers to facilitate access to competitive employment opportunities, negotiate job accommodations, and ensure a smooth transition for clients.
- Client Support and Coaching: Provide ongoing support services to clients, including vocational rehabilitation counselling, job coaching, and education on labour market trends and job marketing techniques.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with Case Managers, other members of the interdisciplinary team, and community professionals to integrate vocational goals into mental health recovery plans.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, analyze trends, and prepare reports as required to meet regulatory standards.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program and two years' recent, related experience providing vocational rehabilitation counselling and job marketing/development to individuals with mental illness.
- Skills and Abilities: Basic counselling skills, knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles, mental illnesses, and the Individual Placement and Support Model. Ability to assess, plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and problem-solve, as well as communicate effectively with clients, staff, and community agency personnel.
