About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Technician to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, clients, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor and assess health and safety risks, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate potential health and safety hazards, and develop strategies to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, including incident reports, training records, and compliance documentation.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian health and safety regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Canada Labour Code.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and quality.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
