About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Port Hope, ON. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, clients, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance on health and safety matters to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate risks associated with construction projects.
  • Communicate health and safety information to employees, clients, and stakeholders through various channels.
  • Participate in incident investigations and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in health and safety.
Requirements
  • Three or more years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Eligible for registration as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Risk and Safety Technician (CRST).
  • Experience working on large-scale projects, including engineered construction, civil works, and environmental remediation.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation, codes, and standards.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety programs.
  • Valid G license and reliable vehicle.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C certification.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
