Job Summary

Crabbe Lumber is seeking a skilled Sawmill Machine Operator to join our team. As a Sawmill Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining sawmill equipment to produce high-quality lumber products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine logs and rough lumber to determine the best cutting plan
  • Saw, trim, and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various sizes
  • Start conveyor systems to move logs and lumber to and from saws
  • Monitor logs and lumber movement to ensure cuts are made according to specifications
  • Set up and adjust saw equipment, including replacing blades or bands
  • Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment to maintain optimal performance
Work Environment

As a Sawmill Machine Operator, you will work in a fast-paced sawmill environment with exposure to noise, dust, and physical demands. You will be required to stand for extended periods, handle heavy loads, and perform repetitive tasks.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Efficient interpersonal skills
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
