**Job Summary**

The City of St. Catharines is seeking a highly skilled GIS Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team, you will play a critical role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of our GIS infrastructure.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Integrate survey and CAD data with associated attribute data into a central spatial database repository.
  • Prepare graphics, reports, and mapping products from central data repositories.
  • Update and maintain the digital mapping of parcels and infrastructure assets.
  • Retrieve and transmit information electronically, orally, or in writing to inquiring public or staff.
  • Exchange information with city field crews and utilities on underground plant locations.
  • Perform trigonometric calculations for verifying and augmenting survey measurements.
  • Classify, index, file, and retrieve various plans and records.
  • Operate large format plotters and printers, high resolution scanner, and other equipment.

**Requirements**

  • College Diploma in Geomatics with an emphasis on Geographic Information Technology.
  • One (1) year experience in GIS, preferably using the ESRI GIS platform in a municipal environment.
  • Experience using Autodesk products (AutoCad/Map and Civil 3D).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting Engineering, Architectural, Topographic, and Survey plan types.
  • Agreement to enter into a separate confidentiality agreement for access to corporate data repositories.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software programs.
  • A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.
  • Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's license, Class "G", with a clean driving record.
