We are seeking a skilled Diesel Truck Mechanic to join our team at Premier Truck Group. As a leading provider of Freightliner and Western Star commercial vehicles, we offer a premium selection of new and used trucks, as well as a full suite of parts, maintenance, and repair services.
Responsibilities:
- Perform vehicle inspections, troubleshooting, and testing to determine required or recommended repairs.
- Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform the necessary repairs, including engine failures, mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, and replacing parts and components as required.
- Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Verify vehicle serviceability and ensure quality repairs by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems as required.
- Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean during the repair process.
- Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options for repairs as required.
- Communicate with service advisors and dispatchers if additional work is needed.
- Aid service writers as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, interact with customers, or guarantee customer satisfaction.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts and supplies.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work area and assist in keeping the shop neat and organized.
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Understand the terminology of the automobile business and keep abreast of technology changes in the product.
- Follow all attendance and punctuality standards, adhering to timekeeping standards, and record the beginning and ending times of any shift, break, or departure from work for personal reasons.
- Follow the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct, understand and follow all work rules, and follow directions from supervisors.
- Uphold the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies, maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy, attend pertinent training on request, and attend company meetings as required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Must possess Provincial License such as Red Seal/310T, current and in good standing with membership/registration with respective Government Agencies.
- Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses preferred.
