Environmental Services Director

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking an experienced Environmental Services Manager to oversee the maintenance and housekeeping operations of our long-term care home in Port Perry, ON.
This is a full-time, permanent role, requiring 60 hours of work per bi-weekly period.
Daily Routine Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain all areas of the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and replacements of equipment and fixtures.
- Document and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize resource allocation.
- Refer complex issues to outside contractors and monitor their work to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the facility.
Management Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Director in the hiring and performance management of departmental staff.
- Supervise contractors' work to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including inventory management and control.
- Participate in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including participation on teams and committees.
- Manage the quality and quantity of services and products provided by departmental staff.
- Maintain records, statistics, and reports in accordance with home policies and applicable legislation.
Qualifications:
- Two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services/Building Services Management or related field.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems.
- Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Formal training in building maintenance is an asset.
- Health and safety certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.
- Experience in a maintenance role within a resident or guest building with a long-term care setting is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French is preferred.
- Ability to complete a vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to work day shifts with some on-call capabilities.
- Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the job.
