About the Role

Arcadis is seeking a skilled Bridge Engineer to join our Design and Engineering team in our Mobility business area. This position can be based out of any of our offices in Canada.

The ideal candidate will have progressive experience in the design and construction of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation-related structures. Responsibilities will include leading the design development of new bridges and bridge rehabilitations, undertaking bridge inspections, investigations, and assessment report preparation.

This role requires problem-solving skills, coaching and mentoring junior staff, project management, and coordinating various disciplines on bridge-related projects. Key tasks will involve:

  • Preparing preliminary and detailed designs of bridges, culverts, and other transportation-related structures, including performing structural analysis and calculations
  • Preparing reports and contract documents
  • Coordinating and reviewing drawing production
  • Communicating with other disciplines to ensure project collaboration
  • Construction liaison and site inspections of bridges and civil structures
  • Quality Control/Quality Assurance; and other responsibilities as assigned
  • Mentoring, coaching, and leading team members
  • Assisting with preparing Business Development (BD) proposals for new work

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (or other Provincial Association)
  • Minimum seven years of design experience for new bridges and bridge rehabilitations for various bridge types and materials, including highway and rail bridges
  • Knowledge in structural analysis software for evaluating and analyzing all types of bridges and working knowledge of CAD software
  • Experience and proven knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and provincial/territorial standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports and proposals
  • Initiative and ability to work independently, providing direction to other team members with a collaborative attitude
  • A commitment to deadlines, excellence, and high-quality work with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present ideas and design rationales
  • A desire to grow, mentor, and inspire a team

Compensation and Benefits

Arcadis offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plans, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
