The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a Relief Support Assistant to provide educational support to students with diverse needs. The successful candidate will work in a relief position, providing assistance to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms and other areas of the school.
Key Responsibilities- Provide academic assistance to students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities and modified learning requirements.
- Work with designated students individually or in small groups to provide instruction and support.
- Assist with implementing specialized and modified learning activities to provide a positive learning experience for students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other support staff to ensure students receive the required level of attention and support.
- High School/Secondary School diploma and related experience in an educational environment.
- Knowledge of child development, disabilities, and other challenges faced by students.
- Ability to provide instruction in core academic subjects (reading, writing, mathematics) to students in a wide range of grade levels.
- Ability to read and comprehend appropriate materials, including reading and mathematics textbooks.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of the goals, objectives, and operations of the school and DEA.
The Relief Support Assistant will work in a variety of settings, including classrooms and other areas of the school. The position may require working on an as-and-when-required basis, with no established hours of work on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
