About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Digital Platforms & Delivery to join our Information Technology Services team at MacEwan University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals, vision, and standards for Digital Platforms & Delivery in conjunction with IT leadership, administrative and academic units, and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee and ensure the development and maintenance of integrated digital solutions.
  • Create and oversee the maintenance of a rolling multi-year roadmap of long-term changes and improvements to each unit within Digital Platforms & Delivery.
  • Contribute to the IT governance framework to guide Digital Platforms & Delivery decision-making, ensuring that projects and solutions adhere to best practices and guidelines and align with the overall technology and institutional strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Enterprise Architecture to research emerging technologies that support Platform Services to increase cost-effectiveness and flexibility.
  • Establish measures of success for implementation of Digital Platforms & Delivery initiatives and oversee ongoing monitoring of initiatives in progress as well as those which have been implemented.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Digital Platforms & Delivery team and the broader organization.
  • Identify opportunities and develop business case justifications for spending and initiatives, including identification of risks and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Negotiate contracts with and manage vendors in collaboration with the Business Operations unit.
  • Oversee the development and execution of change management strategies and plans, with measurable objectives, in support of institutional initiatives.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in business, computing science or a related field.
  • Significant years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including managing a wide variety of development and operational roles.
  • Experience with relevant areas of information technology, including operations, application development and support, software as a solution (SaaS), network administration, cloud infrastructure, data centre management, and vendor management.
  • Experience working in the public sector, specifically the post-secondary environment, is desirable but not essential.
