Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sales Manager to join our team in Edmonton. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing new corporate business and growing existing relationships for our region's hotels.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Secure new corporate business and grow existing relationships for our region's hotels
  2. Work with customers to align their preferences with property features and upsell business opportunities
  3. Drive customer loyalty through excellent customer service throughout the sales process
  4. Negotiate RFPs for group business and annual account room rate negotiations
  5. Refer opportunities to appropriate sales associates if business is outside their parameters
  6. Sell meeting space and catering services to clients prior to passing on to the Event Manager
  7. Establish clear expectations for customers and properties throughout the sales process
  8. Transfer accurate, complete, and timely information to properties
  9. Ensure business booked is within hotel parameters and close the best opportunities for properties based on market conditions and property needs
  10. Actively upsell business opportunities to maximize revenues
  11. Build and strengthen relationships with new customers to enable future bookings
  12. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  13. Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked, including generating proposals, writing contracts, and customer correspondence
  14. Understand and actively utilize Nova marketing initiatives and incentives to close on business
  15. Effectively leverage corporate resources and support staff to achieve personal and team-related revenue goals
  16. Effectively resolve guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process and bring them to the attention of the property and the Corporate Director of Sales

Requirements

  • Requires above-average selling skills, strong communication skills, and an understanding of property operations, food and beverage, and planning
  • Prior sales management experience
  • Displays a positive attitude, maintains enthusiasm, and celebrates success
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to deliver and demonstrate consistent outstanding customer service
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with all key corporate disciplines and the internal team
  • Fast-paced and may require standing, walking, or remaining on feet the entire day depending on business levels
  • Effective problem solver who finds solutions that are beneficial to guests, associates, and the organization
  • Flexible and energetic with the ability to work under pressure
  • Intermittent business travel will be required

This business context includes the competition, the suppliers, the customer base, and the regulatory environment. Knows the market well enough to spot trends and anticipates, capitalizes on, and possibly drives changes in the market.
  • Business Acumen & Yield Management: Identifying and moving towards business opportunities, seizing chances to increase profit and revenue applying sound yield management principles. Understands the value of money and how it's made. Uses innovative and creative ways to increase business levels and profitability.
