GFL Environmental is a leading waste management company seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on our fleet of heavy-duty equipment. The successful candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty equipment, including diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working condition
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless equipment operation and minimize downtime

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or certification in heavy equipment repair preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair and maintenance, as well as hydraulic and transmission systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
