Job Summary

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial instruments and control systems. This role requires a strong understanding of various industrial instruments and control systems, including pneumatic, electronic, and digital systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, maintain, and repair a wide variety of industrial instrumentation and control systems, ensuring accurate readings and process control.
  • Perform troubleshooting and calibration of instruments, interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals to diagnose and correct issues.
  • Maintain and update calibration records, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and operations teams to optimize process control and ensure system functionality.
  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance of instruments and document any changes or repairs.
  • Diagnose faults or failures using specialized equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, or signal generators.
  • Support plant operations by responding quickly to maintenance requests and minimizing downtime.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and reliability of instrumentation systems.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements and assist with instrumentation upgrades and modifications.

Requirements

  • Must possess construction and industrial experience.
  • Must be a Certified Journeyperson in Instrumentation and Control.
  • Strong knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations (e.g., CSA, ANSI, and company policies).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment with possible exposure to hazardous materials, high temperatures, and noisy machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be fit-for-duty.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be immediately eligible/able to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to provide a clean Canadian criminal record check (within 30 days of hire).
