Job Summary

The Town of Essex is seeking a Senior Municipal Lawyer to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional legal services to the Town, including civil litigation, By-Law enforcement, municipal and administrative law.
  • Represent the Town before adjudicative bodies, including all aspects of conducting civil and administrative litigation, By-Law prosecutions and provincial offences.
  • Negotiate, draft, review, prepare and serve a wide variety of legal documents, including litigation documents, corporate contracts, property and real estate agreements.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate or Bachelor of Laws degree (L.L.B.) from a recognized institution.
  • Licensed Lawyer Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Full membership/certification in good standing in Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association (MLEOA) and the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers (CPSO) would be considered an asset.
Salary:

$120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
