About the Role

The Recreation Programmer will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and reviewing resident-directed individualized and community-wide programs. They will collaborate with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development and ensure that programming meets the residents' needs and expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with each resident and/or family to assess their engagement of meaningful activities in the six dimensions of wellness- Physical, Social, Intellectual, Vocational, Emotional, and Spiritual;
  • Assist each resident in achieving their goals to enhance their overall wellness and assist with defining strategies for achieving those goals;
  • Develop, analyze, and review resident-directed individualized and community-wide programs;
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development;
  • Evaluate programming to ensure that the programs are meeting the residents' needs and expectations along with upholding the established expectations;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a diploma or degree in recreation or a related discipline. You should also possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong computer skills. A Class G Driver's License is an asset, and proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification is required. Ability to provide a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check upon hire is also necessary.

A passion for creative arts such as music therapy, art therapy, or artistic expression is a plus. You should be an energetic and compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly and has experience in programming and planning for seniors in a recreational environment.
