About the Job:
Challenger Motor Freight Inc is seeking a highly skilled Dock Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of freight through our dock operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and supervision to dock staff, ensuring they are adequately trained to perform their duties in a safe and effective manner.
- Conduct regular inspections of the dock area to ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and Transport Canada mandates.
- Optimize the use of staff and equipment to meet customer service requirements, ensuring all freight is unloaded, staged, and loaded safely and timely.
- Maintain regular communication with customers, appointment coordinators, and dispatch staff regarding service/delivery performance.
- Investigate and report any damage to equipment, facilities, or freight, ensuring photographs and reports are completed promptly.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the transportation, logistics, or distribution sector.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple conflicting priorities.
- Good computer skills and attention to detail.
