Senior Ecologist

Job Title: Senior Ecologist

Job Summary:

WEST Inc is seeking a highly experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team in Saskatchewan. As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing our Saskatchewan projects, as well as other Canadian projects. You will work closely with our team to develop budgets, write proposals, and coordinate field activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Marketing and business development activities
• Project management, including budgeting and proposal writing
• Coordinating and assisting with field activities
• Direct environmental technical aspects of planning projects
• Coordinating with local and provincial agencies, First Nations, and the public
• Performing fieldwork and providing training to field technicians
• Assessing ecological effects and interpreting results
• Writing reports and providing quality assurance of data

Requirements:

• Legally allowed to work in Canada
• Completed bachelor's degree or higher in biological sciences or a related discipline
• At least 10 years of relevant experience
• Experience with renewable projects, including wind, solar, or battery storage
• Valid driver's license with no restrictions
• Competent in Microsoft Office and ArcGIS/QGIS
• Excellent time management and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with projects in other provinces
• Previous experience consulting with the Saskatchewan Ministry of the Environment
• Ability to lead wildlife surveys in accordance with the Saskatchewan Species Detection Survey Protocols
• Experience with construction or environmental monitoring
