Job Description:

The Senior Career Development Manager role at Douglas College is a high-profile position that requires strong leadership and business acumen to drive career development initiatives and foster partnerships with industry leaders.

About the Role:

This senior-level position will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive career services and programs, ensuring alignment with the college's strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industry trends, labour market needs, and post-secondary education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Administration:
    • Provide strategic guidance and direction to functional teams staff on day-to-day operations and departmental priorities.
    • Hire, train, and mentor staff members.
    • Assign and approve schedules, evaluate work quality, performance planning, and management.
    • Ensure compliance with collective agreements.
    • Conduct workforce planning to assess staffing requirements.
  • Business Development and Relationship Management:
    • Promote Douglas College students and programs to employers.
    • Create a strategic plan for outreach activities to drive greater ROI from employer engagement initiatives.
    • Represent the college at networking events to increase awareness of Douglas College and its opportunities.
    • Develop relationships with key employers whose recruiting needs align with Douglas College's academic programs.
  • Career Services and Program Management:
    • Provide strategic input to planning, development, and implementation of career development training programs.
    • Manage project teams throughout event development or other initiatives.
    • Solicit feedback from participating employers to inform training programs.
Requirements:
  • A degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related area of study.
  • A minimum of 8 years' related experience, including business development and job development experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of job development strategies and best practices in career education.
  • Ability to lead initiatives and manage projects involving senior colleagues, local government representatives, and the business community.
Estimated Salary:

$85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
