Job Title: Cardiovascular Technologist

Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Technologist plays a crucial role in the Cardiac Catheterization laboratory, responsible for monitoring patients' ECG and hemodynamics during various invasive procedures. This position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor patients' ECG and hemodynamics during procedures such as heart catheterizations and angioplasties.
  • Analyze data and convey vital information to the Cardiologist during the procedure.
  • Generate standard reports for each procedure.
  • Maintain equipment and assist in setting up and calibrating devices for each procedure.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by applying electrodes and shaving prep if necessary.
  • Gather patient information and enter orders in Meditech.
  • Set up and calibrate various equipment, including physiological data monitoring systems and defibrillators.
  • Maintain records for the Provincial Cardiac registry (HeartIS).
  • Assist in pulling supplies and setting up procedural trays using sterile technique.
  • Participate in defibrillating, external pacing, and cardioversion as required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology.
  • Two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Canadian Association of Cardiology Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT) and/or CCI RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) credential.

  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Work Environment:

This position is based in the Cardiac Catheterization laboratory at Fraser Health, working closely with Cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
