We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiation Technologist, CT to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Medical Imaging department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.
Job SummaryThe Radiation Technologist, CT will be responsible for performing special procedure examinations in CT, utilizing a client and family-centered care model and adhering to the standards of professional practice. You will work closely with our team to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform special procedure examinations in CT, adhering to established procedures and protocols
- Receive and complete requisitions, entering relevant data into the radiology information system
- Prepare examination trays and patients for specific procedures, ensuring safe radiation protection practices
- Operate computerized imaging equipment, processing and archiving acquired data
- Monitor patient during procedures, responding to possible contrast media reactions or other emergent situations
- Image studies using radiography equipment and departmental information systems
- Report malfunctioning equipment to Supervisor
- Facilitate the workflow of designated work area, regulating inpatient examination time and arranging departmental and/or facility porters
- Oversee the operations and activities of Medical Imaging personnel, supervising departmental staff and preparing work and priorities
- Complete payroll records, organize in-service education programs, and review performance with staff
- Participate in staffing, hiring, and discipline as appropriate
- Make recommendations to the Site Coordinator or Supervisor regarding planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating services provided by the department
- Establish objectives, policies, procedures, and standards that result in an efficient coordinated medical imaging service
- Perform quality control duties, scheduling and performing equipment tests in accordance with recommended manufacturers' guidelines
- Participate in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement program, using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and one year recent, related experience, including supervisory experience
- Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality
- Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies
