Job Title: Development Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Officer to join our team in Manitoba. As a key member of our fundraising team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating assigned fundraising activities, including event management, donor development, database and office support, grant writing, and researching opportunities to increase chapter revenue.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and inspire potential corporate and individual donors to support our mission.
  • Manage the full cycle of events at the chapter, ensuring high standards for all assigned fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Utilize creativity in the development and design of marketing and promotional materials, including PSA's, press releases, brochures, and other materials.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to assist with development or coordination of material for Wish Stories and other development and communication material/literature.
  • Establish and provide support to event committees as required to ensure success of events.
  • Work in collaboration with the Wish Granting team to identify appropriate Wish Families for event participation.
  • Provide general office support, including ordering of materials, working with suppliers, and coordinating volunteers.
  • Work on administrative tasks, including preparing meeting notes, updating donor records, and producing reports.
  • Collaborate with your immediate manager in identifying opportunities for development and growth in sponsorship, donations, and awareness.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in fundraising/business, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 2-3 years working experience in the fundraising area, preferably in a multi-level organization within diverse communities.
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and on various tasks simultaneously.
  • Highly motivated, with a high attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and meet targeted timelines.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel).
  • Demonstrated experience in using databases and ability to train on databases.
  • Access to reliable transportation for onsite visits and meetings with sponsors, donors, and the community.
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.
Work Environment:
  • Hybrid work environment (2 days in-office, 3 days remote per week) with occasional requirement to work outside of traditional office hours.
  • Required to work outside of regular office hours during peak season.
