This role involves the investigation and audit of aviation security processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and IATA operational safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct thorough investigations into reported aviation security hazards or incidents, defining contributing and root causes through analysis.
- Liaise with departmental managers to implement corrective actions for reported hazards in the Security Management System.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and IATA operational safety standards.
- Participate in evaluating security-critical processes of alliance partners relevant to Porter aircraft.
- Prepare audit plans, checklists, sampling plans, and other documentation related to assigned audits.
- Develop detailed evidence-based reports for all assigned audits.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational security reporting systems and information acquired during investigation and audit duties.
- Act as a Safety Ambassador and resource for all employees.
- Participate actively in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply, and promote the Company Safety Policy.
- Concern for Safety: Identify hazardous situations and take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve organizational goals.
- Passenger/Customer Service: Provide service excellence to internal and/or external customers.
- Initiative: Deal proactively with situations and issues, seizing opportunities that arise.
- Results Focus: Achieve high-quality results consistent with the organization's standards.
- Fostering Communication: Listen and communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences.
This role requires working knowledge of Transport Canada requirements for aviation security and the IATA operational safety audit program. A minimum of 3 years' experience in commercial flight operations is necessary, along with experience in the IOSA certification of a commercial air operator in the area of aviation security.
Prior experience as an aviation internal auditor is also beneficial, as is excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, impartiality, integrity, tenacity, diplomacy, and self-reliance.
A university degree, certification as an Aviation Security Professional, and/or acceptable combination of education, training, and/or related work experience are required.
The ability to secure and maintain an all-Canada Restricted Area Identity Card is essential, as is the ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice when required.
