Operational Risk Management Associate Director

The primary objective of this Associate Director role is to ensure the effective implementation of Enterprise operational risk programs for Scenario Analysis, External Events, and related programs such as Change Risk Assessments, Operational Resilience, and other operational risk initiatives as needed. This includes Thematic Reviews to ensure programs are aligned with revised regulatory requirements such as OSFI E-21.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development, transformation, and ongoing maintenance of operational risk programs, ensuring they are aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Director, Risk Practice Management Strategy to provide operational risk management leadership and expertise in the development, transformation, and maintenance of the operational risk framework and sound risk management practices across all RBC business platforms and corporate functions.
- Work with the Operational Risk Practice Strategy team to support the building out and running of respective practices, ensuring regional requirements are coordinated and aligned with the Enterprise.
- Provide expert advice on operational risk, leveraging insights from operational risk reporting and analytics, independent reviews, and industry perspectives to ensure RBC's operational risk practices maintain a forward-looking view that considers both managed and emerging risks.
- Monitor compliance to policy and communicate exceptions to Advisory & Oversight (A&O) for liaison with 1st LOD and other impacted parties.
- Actively support business partners in all lines of defense, including business operational leads, the A&O, and Centre of Governance.
- Ensure stakeholders are enabled with appropriate operational risk tools and resources to react proactively regarding the risk practices.
- Prioritize and facilitate responses to queries and ad hoc requests coming from internal and external stakeholders.
- 5+ years of experience in risk management with deep knowledge of banking regulatory requirements and best practices related to global risk management practices.
- Experience working in a matrixed environment, managing a diverse group of executive stakeholders.
- Experience in driving change within an organization.
- Highly proficient in stakeholder management, change management, strategy development, and people management.
- Strong ability to influence, interpret feedback, motivate, and effect change.
- Expert in risk management methodologies.
