Course Overview

The University of Ottawa is seeking a qualified candidate to teach a course on Law Practice Entrepreneurship and Management. This course is designed for lawyers who are interested in building and operating a small or sole law practice.

Course Objectives

  • To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the key issues in running an ethical, professional, and viable small practice.
  • To equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage and lead a small law practice.
  • To explore the unique challenges and opportunities faced by lawyers in small practices.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a course on Law Practice Entrepreneurship and Management.
  • Develop and implement a course syllabus that meets the needs of students.
  • Provide students with regular feedback and assessment.
  • Participate in departmental and faculty meetings.

Requirements

  • LL.B., J.D., or equivalent degree.
  • Membership in the Law Society of Ontario in good standing.
  • Significant practical experience working in or operating a small or solo law practice.
  • Prior teaching experience is an asset.

Additional Information

This course is offered during the January intensive session. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach a course that is relevant to the needs of lawyers in small practices.
