Technical Manager, Power Sector Modeling Expert

ICF is seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager, Power Sector Modeling Expert to lead the development and expansion of analytic tools and methods for power sector planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems operations and engineering, as well as experience with mathematical optimization and programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create mathematical formulations and designs for new and revised model formulations.
  • Develop comprehensive test cases and lead testing functionality, including regression testing of existing platforms.
  • Collaborate with a small team of software developers and internal tool users to address complex planning-focused problems.
  • Provide user support, including troubleshooting, error/infeasibility investigation, and solutioning.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or PhD in computer science, mathematics, or operations research.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in energy tool development management and operations research.
  • Experience with complex power sector/energy systems modeling, load flow, contingency analysis, and linear and mixed integer programming tools.
