About the Position

The Government of Yukon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director - Community Affairs. This position is responsible for overseeing the Yukon Municipal Act and fostering collaborative relationships between communities and the Government of Yukon.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management in Yukon municipalities and government departments, providing advice on financial, governance, and strategic matters affecting Yukon communities. This role requires a strong understanding of local government and community development, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Community Affairs Branch
  • Develop and implement policies and programs to support local governments and communities
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including municipalities, First Nation governments, and community organizations
  • Provide advice and guidance on financial, governance, and strategic matters affecting Yukon communities
  • Lead integrated solutions to local challenges and develop strategic initiatives to address community needs
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Community Development, or related field
  • Considerable experience managing complex programs with varying and broad mandates
  • Demonstrated experience providing direction and strategic leadership to varying programs
  • Significant experience navigating internal and external processes for delivery of government objectives
  • Significant experience leading, managing, and developing staff, including performance and talent management
