Job Summary:

Darling International Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to lead the production activities at our Winnipeg, Manitoba location. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the production operations of the Winnipeg facility, ensuring high levels of employee and customer satisfaction, and driving a safety-focused culture on the plant floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a management team of 4 employees and an hourly team of approximately 25 ununionized employees
  • Support, mentor, and train plant management/supervisor teams
  • Ensure ongoing and future compliance with all Provincial regulatory bodies, including Environment, Employment Standards, and Safety
  • Foster positive relationships on the plant floor and at all levels of the business and with all external contacts
  • Assume a leadership role in the Health and Safety program, including driving a safety-focused culture on the plant floor and safety-related Work Orders
  • Administrate and publish reports on all first aids, medical aids, and lost time accidents; participate in and support all accident investigations
  • Ensure current and future departmental compliance with all standards, including the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Labour, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
  • Take the lead in maintaining, enhancing, developing, and compliance with the HACCP plan, GMPs, SOPs, and procedures within the Production department
  • Provide support and facilitate effective work group meetings within the production department

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, with experience in a rendering or food manufacturing environment being a definite asset
  • Post-secondary education and/or a University Degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Science, or a related field is considered an asset
  • At least 5 years of JHSC leadership or engagement, with full comprehension of Bill C45 and Bill 168 and the accountabilities associated with those legislative bills
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and self-motivated, with an ability to work independently
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and organizational skills
  • Supervisory experience illustrating an inclusive team management style approach
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills to assist with staff development
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of computer competency, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong communication skills and cooperation required across other functional business areas, across Corporate teams, regulatory bodies, communities, and local businesses
