Capilano University is seeking an Educational Developer for Indigenous Initiatives to join our Centre for Teaching Excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to work with faculty to Indigenize curriculum, programming, and the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Consult and advise faculty on Indigenous curriculum development, incorporating evidence-informed best practices for student learning.
- Support faculty in effective and innovative teaching practices through individual and group consultations, resource creation, and workshop delivery.
- Develop and deliver cultural workshops in collaboration with Indigenous Faculty Advisors and the Centre for Teaching Excellence.
- Liaise with university staff and faculty to establish culturally appropriate practices, policies, and systems.
- Support the work of the Aboriginal Student Success Plan and Chen Chen Stway.
- A Master's degree in Education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, scholarship, and community engagement.
- Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report and the UNDRIP, with ability to incorporate related issues into activities and university initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience facilitating in a sensitive and cross-cultural learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to move forward and facilitate a project or initiative, with knowledge of current research in teaching and learning and best practices.
