As an Industrial Maintenance Technician at IPEX, you will be part of our team that ensures the smooth operation of our production and facility equipment. We are seeking a skilled and experienced technician to join us on a 12-hour continental night shift schedule (8pm - 8am, 7 shifts bi-weekly).

Job Summary

">

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for performing diverse electrical and mechanical duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety and legislated standards. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • Plan and layout work assignments from complex blueprints, sketches, or verbal instruction and accomplish these assignments with maximum efficiency.">
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.">
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair plant machinery, tooling, molds, equipment, systems, buildings, and physical structures.">
  • Use all tools and operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders for efficient overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of Company property.">
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.">
  • Ensure compliance with national, provincial, and local codes affecting repair and maintenance, safety, construction, and dismantling of machinery, equipment, and structures.">
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records.">
  • Work with other classifications of employees in emergency situations, plant shutdown periods, and when machinery is not operating, and perform any duties necessary to get equipment and machinery back into operation in minimum time.">
  • Perform various other tasks as assigned.">

Requirements

">
  • Certification as an Electrician (309A, 442A or Red Seal) is required.">
  • Dual-ticket certification (Electrician and Industrial Mechanic/Millwright) is strongly preferred.">
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and machine maintenance is essential.">
  • Able to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical issues using sound problem-solving techniques and good judgment based on previous practices and precedence.">
  • Sound technical and mechanical aptitude coupled with knowledge of how machines work.">
  • Able to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and adhere to instructions diligently.">
  • Works well in teams and self-motivated to work independently.">
  • Eager to learn and adapt quickly.">
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.">
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices is necessary.">

Working Conditions

">

This role requires working in a plant environment with varying degrees of considerable physical labor. Lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects, standing, and walking cover most of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels, and the use of equipment such as sharp blades and presses. High amounts of sensory attention are required, and limited control of work pace brings considerable stresses to this position.
