We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our team at Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia. As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of policies and procedures within our Legislation, Ethics, and Compliance Department.
Key Responsibilities- Policy Development and Analysis: Assist the Legal Counsel, Policy Manager in developing and/or revising bylaws, policies, and procedures, and provide analysis of the impacts of existing or new legislation, policies, and processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate consultation with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis of bylaws and policies, and conduct environmental scans of best practices employed by other similar professions and jurisdictions.
- Proposal Development: Develop proposals, scenarios, and recommendations on bylaw and policy initiatives.
- Documentation and Training: Write training, guidance, and assessment documents pertaining to bylaw policy and procedures for publication.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with others in the organization and perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 2-5 years of relevant previous experience working as a policy analyst is required.
- Skills: Familiarity with legal documents and memoranda is an asset, as well as experience in policy development, evaluation frameworks, and methodologies.
- Personal Qualities: Ability to collaborate with internal and external networks of key influencers, and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential situations, documents, and information.
- Competitive Compensation: A salary of $75,000-$83,500 annually (pro-rated based on the length of contract).
- Benefits: 8% additional pay in lieu of benefits, 10 vacation days per annum (pro-rated based on the length of contract), and a flex day program offering additional paid days off.
- Hybrid Work Model: A hybrid work model with an assigned schedule confirming days worked remotely and days worked in-office.
