Job Title: Education Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Education Assistant to provide support to our classroom teachers in creating inclusive schools and classrooms. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the school-based support team to provide individualized support to students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, including those with special education needs, English language learners, and students with behavioral challenges.
  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans, preparing materials, and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.
  • Support students with daily living skills, such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with diverse needs.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Special Education Teaching Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs.
  • Knowledge of behavior management, conflict resolution, and restraining techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Flexibility, patience, stamina, emotional stability, and maturity to support students with diverse needs.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a school setting, with occasional travel to other schools within the district.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and other professionals to provide a supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with diverse needs.

Compensation:

  • $33.72 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.
