The Engineering Institute of Canada is seeking a talented Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. We are a leading institution in the field of engineering, and this role will play a crucial part in advancing our research and development activities.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing power electronics technologies, including electrical and mechanical design using CAD tools such as Altium Designer, Solidworks, and Fusion. They will also assist in firmware coding for embedded processors, create schematics and layouts, and integrate software and hardware for verification.

In addition, the candidate will be responsible for test setup, maintenance, and lab safety protocols, ensuring equipment availability and functionality, performing troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and calibration, and implementing lab safety protocols, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance.

The Power Electronics Engineer will also be responsible for procurement and inventory management, ordering components, managing inventory, maintaining stock levels, and handling procurement documentation, ensuring all materials meet project specifications.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient in CAD software (Altium Designer, Solidworks, Fusion) for electrical/mechanical design
  • Firmware development (TI C DSPs, STM), including communication protocols (SPI, UART, I2C)
  • Experienced in hardware design, component selection, PCB soldering (through-hole, SMD), testing, and debugging
  • Capable of mechanical modeling and operating CNC, laser cutters, and other machines
