Senior Distribution Engineer Position

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Distribution Engineer to join our Toronto, Ontario office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative designs for electric utility systems, applying in-depth knowledge of their operation.
  • Utilize engineering calculations to address project challenges, ensuring complete and competent designs.
  • Prepare and review design deliverables, including plan and profile drawings, material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Lead and direct a team of Engineers, Designers, and Drafters, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Network with clients and maintain strong relationships.
  • Some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or Technology diploma in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a university accredited by Engineers Canada.
  • Eight (8) + years of experience in designing and operating overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Strong understanding of utility standards, CSA, and powerline construction techniques.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in design teams.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel to the USA for training or client meetings.
  • Strong command of the English language, with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a client's background check and adhere to client drug and alcohol screening processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ten (10) + years of experience in designing and operating overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Prior utility design experience or distribution line work in the Ontario market is highly preferred.
  • Strong computer design skills, with the ability to learn new software packages efficiently.
  • Exposure to non-linear powerline design software, such as PLS-CADD or SPIDAcalc.
  • Managerial and leadership experience is an asset.
